Epworth’s Discipleship Ministry offers a variety of ways for adults to deepen their faith and build relationships. Whether through Sunday School, weekly Bible studies, Wesley Groups, or special programs like the Emmaus Walk, there are opportunities for everyone to grow in Christ.
Adult Discipleship Goals
- Encourage lifelong learning and growth in discipleship.
- Provide opportunities for adults of all ages to connect through study, fellowship, and accountability.
- Equip individuals to apply faith in daily life.
- Support spiritual transformation through prayer, scripture, and community.
Functions of the Adult Discipleship Team
Teach & Equip
Provide structured opportunities for learning scripture, theology, and spiritual practices. Leaders prepare lessons, offer resources, and encourage participants to apply faith to daily life.
Encourage Accountability
Create small group settings where participants can share openly, set spiritual goals, and encourage one another to live as disciples of Jesus. This includes prayer partnerships, mentoring, and intentional check-ins.
Foster Fellowship
Build meaningful relationships through discussion, shared meals, retreats, and service projects. Groups become spiritual families who celebrate joys and walk together through challenges.
Support Spiritual Growth
Guide individuals toward deeper practices of prayer, Bible study, worship, and service. Provide pathways for spiritual renewal through retreats, seasonal studies, and connections to resources like the Emmaus Walk.
Develop Leaders
Equip new facilitators and group leaders with training and mentorship so that more discipleship opportunities can continue to grow.
Encourage Service
Connect study and small group life with opportunities to serve in the church and community, helping disciples put their faith into action.
Meeting Information
- Adult Sunday School: Sundays at 9:45 a.m. (various classrooms).
- Bible Studies: Weekday mornings and evenings (seasonal schedules).
- Wesley Groups: Weekly or biweekly, homes or church.
- Emmaus Walks: Scheduled regionally throughout the year.
