Each spring, Epworth United Methodist Church hosts Touch A Truck, a favorite community tradition that welcomes families to explore a wide variety of vehicles in a safe, friendly environment. The event takes place in the church parking lot on the Saturday before Mother’s Day and features everything from fire trucks and police cars to construction equipment and service vehicles. Children love being able to climb inside, meet the drivers, and experience the excitement of seeing these vehicles up close. Rev up your engines because our Touch a Truck team is already rolling to prepare for this year's big event. Our parking lot will be filled with vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Kids of all ages can climb aboard, honk the horn, and pretend to drive anything that rolls, flies or floats. We’ll have popcorn, concessions, and lots of fun. It’s a great event for the whole family and admission is FREE!
We’re always looking to grow our vehicle family for Touch a Truck. Each year we strive to exhibit 3 new vehicles; and we need YOUR help. If you have a cool vehicle you’d like to show off, reach out to the Touch a Truck team at touchatruck@epworth.com
To help everyone enjoy the day comfortably, we offer sensory-friendly hour throughout the event, when sirens and horns are kept off and the crowd is smaller. Free earplugs are also available at the Epworth Early Learning Center (ELC) table for anyone who would like them at any time. These small steps make it easier for families with different needs to take part in the fun.
Families can also grab a bite to eat at the food tent, where hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks are available for purchase. All proceeds support Epworth’s youth program, helping fund retreats, service opportunities, and future outreach projects. Most years, the Kona Ice trucks stop by as well, offering a cool, refreshing treat on warm spring afternoons. Touch A Truck is open to everyone and offers a relaxed, family-friendly way to connect with the community and meet the people who keep it running. It’s a day filled with laughter, learning, and simple joy—a time for neighbors to come together, share in conversation, and make memories that last long after the trucks drive away.
