An inspired community of
faith, hope & purpose.

F.E.D. (Fellowship Excite Discipleship)

What We Do

The FED Team plans and hosts events designed to bring people together, strengthen relationships, and extend Epworth’s radical hospitality into the community. Events include on-campus gatherings such as church movie nights, potlucks, and picnics, as well as large-scale community events like Touch a Truck, the Spring Party, Trunk-or-Treat, and 5K Walks. These events provide fun, fellowship, and a visible witness of Christ’s love in action.

FED also partners with local organizations to support community needs. In 2024, Epworth partnered with Sylvania Arts to support their youth theater program by providing rehearsal space, meals, volunteers, and prayer. This kind of outreach reflects our mission of discipleship through service.

Goals

  • Encourage fellowship within the Epworth congregation through engaging events.
  • Create opportunities to invite the community to experience the excitement of walking in faith.
  • Support community needs through service and hospitality.
  • Reflect God’s love so that every person we encounter feels dignity and worth.

Functions of the Passionate Worship Committee

Plan & Promote Events

The FED Team dreams, designs, and carries out events that bring people together and showcase the joy of Christian community. This includes brainstorming new ideas, developing themes, coordinating with other ministries, reserving space, and handling all the details that make events meaningful. Promotion is a key piece: FED works with church communications to spread the word through bulletins, emails, social media, and personal invitations so everyone feels welcome.

Recruit & Coordinate Volunteers

FED depends on a wide network of volunteers to bring events to life. Team members invite and encourage people of all ages to help, matching them with roles that are simple and achievable — from greeting at the door, to serving food, to leading games. Volunteers receive clear instructions and support so they can step into their role with confidence. FED also maintains sign-up systems and follow-up communications to ensure every event is staffed well and runs smoothly.

Model Radical Hospitality

Hospitality is at the heart of FED’s mission. Every event is designed to make people feel seen, valued, and welcomed. That may mean setting up comfortable spaces, providing meals, offering childcare, or creating environments where new faces can easily connect with others. FED volunteers model Christ’s love in how they greet, listen, serve, and engage, ensuring each person feels a true sense of belonging.

Support Community Outreach

FED looks beyond Epworth’s walls to serve the wider community. This includes partnering with local organizations, offering space for rehearsals or meetings, donating meals or supplies, and showing up as volunteers at community events. By saying “yes” to opportunities to serve, FED helps Epworth live out its mission of being a church that cares deeply for neighbors, reflects God’s love, and demonstrates discipleship through action.

Join This Ministry

There are many ways to serve through FED, from joining the ministry team to volunteering for one event at a time. Team members commit to monthly meetings and event planning. Event volunteers are needed to greet, serve, or help with activities. Whatever your gifts, there is a place for you to help bring fellowship, excitement, and discipleship to Epworth and the wider community.
