Services of Healing and Wholeness
One of the vital parts of Jesus’ earthly ministry was his ministry of healing and wholeness. Jesus offered a healing touch to the 10 lepers, the man born blind, the woman with a bleeding disorder and so many more. Jesus offered wholeness to people like Zacchaeus, the woman at the well, Matthew, Paul and others.
For many years Epworth has had a vital and powerful prayer ministry through prayer chains, intercessory prayer groups and prayers for healing and wholeness in public worship.
Epworth Church continues to offer a series of Healing and Wholeness Services that began in July. The next service will be held Tuesday, October 14 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel and is open to the entire community. Mr. Larry Blake will offer his testimony to God’s healing power after a long and painful struggle with alcohol. Mr. Blake is now working full time in the substance abuse program at the Salvation Army where he shares his testimony with others. Larry is a poet and will read some of his poems for the service. Copies of his book, Poems of Praise, will be available for a donation of $5.00.
Robert L. Thomas, Pastor, will lead in the healing prayers and preside for the Sacrament of Holy Communion assisted by Beth Irwin, B.J. Brengartner, Mary Helen Darah, Ann Koffman, and Penny McCartney. Cecil Baughman will accompany the service.
You may come to the service to pray for others, to have the community pray for your special needs, to pray for hurt and brokenness in the community and for the brokenness in the world.
“Are any among you sick? They should call for elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. [James 5:14]
Scripture strongly affirms ministries of spiritual healing, which in recent years have received renewed emphasis throughout Christ’s holy Church. Spiritual healing is God’s work of offering persons balance, harmony, and wholeness of body, mind, spirit, and relationships through confession, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
Upcoming Healing Services will focus on testimonies from:
November 10: Frank Fischer
December 15: Yvonne Hemminger
January 13: B.J. Brengartner
February 10: Chuck Campos

Greetings from Epworth United Methodist Church, where our doors are wide open to all people. We believe that Christianity is first and foremost about relationships rather than rules. It is about the most important relationship of all - our relationship with God. We hope you come and enjoy God’s loving presence during any of our three Sunday morning worship gatherings.
What visitors usually notice is that we are a large church with a large number of ministries that meet a wide range of needs. But if you look closer, you’ll find that in many ways we’re small. In fact, we’re actually a network of small groups. If you’d like to develop authentic and enduring relationships with others, then you’ll be glad to know that new groups are forming all the time.
Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible—a church with relevant sermons, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we’d like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.
Come, bring a friend and experience Christian community as we worship God in both traditional and contemporary styles. You’ll find that Epworth is a place where you really matter—because you matter to God.
We look forward to meeting you this Sunday at Epworth.
