Basketball after the Final Four? Epworth’s Community Outreach Team is excited to announce “Hoops for Hunger,” a four week food drive starting March 19 that will benefit people experiencing food emergency in local Toledo neighborhoods.

After the final buzzer sounds in Phoenix, we’ll move into overtime against hunger in Toledo. EVERYONE is invited to participate in this tournament! When you’re doing your food shopping, pick up a few additional items from the list below. Put your donations in a plastic grocery bag, bring them to the narthex, and look for the basketball hoop on: March 19, March 26, April 2 & April 9.

Adding to the excitement will be contests and challenges to support your favorite team:

APRIL 2: BGSU Vs. University of Toledo
APRIL 9: Ohio State Vs. Michigan

The food will be delivered to the “Feed your Neighbor” food pantry at Epiphany Lutheran Church on North Reynolds road (in the “next neighborhood over”). If you are unable to shop but would still like to participate, the Community Outreach Team has volunteers who will shop for you! Simply make out a check to Epworth UMC Hoops for Hunger and turn it in to the church office or in the Sunday morning offering plate.
