Dr. Swisher, What are the most important Promises in the Bible? Ava, Dunkirk, Ohio

Hello Ava. Happy New Year.  This is the perfect question for the first Sunday of the New Year. Biblical Scholars tell us there are 7,147 promises of God in the Holy Scripture.

A great way to begin 2022 is to immerse ourselves in God’s promises found in the Bible

Here are a few to get us started:

1. God is always with us
   “This is my command be strong and courageous!  Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord our God is with us wherever we go.”  Joshua 1:9
2. God is kind and compassionate
   “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed , yet my unfailing love and kindness toward you will not be shaken.”  Isaiah 54:10
3. God designed us for a purpose
   “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
4. God strengthens us with overflowing hope
   “May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.   Romans 15:13
