Dr. Swisher, Can God heal all the Civil unrest in America today? Daevonne, Toledo
Hello Daevonne. Thank you for this relevant and heartfelt question. It seems as though every time we turn on tv or check the news feed on our phones we hear of another problem regarding racial tension. It seems to me the root cause to the concept of racism or racial tension ultimately comes from:
The other day I was on a Delta flight out of Detroit. While we were waiting to board and when we landed at the Destination one of the passages received at least 40-50 text messages. Every time a message came in his phone played in a very high-volume Dixie. I thought there was going to be a race riot on the plane. This individual was clearly culturally insensitive.
God can help bring healing but we must first evaluate ourselves and discover our own racial divide and personal proclivities. Next, we need to connect or reconnect with God. Because when we do we will begin to see others through the eyes of Christ instead of our own preferences or prejudice.
The Apostle Paul put it this way in his First Century letter to the Galatians, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, male or female, slave or free for we are all one in Christ Jesus.” This is the key Daevonne. When we become aware of God’s daily Presence in our lives, we reconnect with a power source that will direct our course of action. For this current hot button issue to be resolved we must become culturally aware and more spiritually connected.
