| Lenten Vesper Series |
|
Beginning Tuesday, March 15 through April 12, at 7:00 pm, Epworth will host Tuesday Evening Vespers in the chancel of the sanctuary. Pastor Thomas will lead the Lenten Vespers which will focus on Jesus’ final journey to the Cross. Through the centuries, Christians have created a method to recall and relive in their hearts, the final stages of Jesus’ mission through “The Way of the Cross.” The vespers will provide an opportunity for the participants to move through these Stations and meditate on what each scene presents, with appropriate prayers, meditations, music and song. The purpose of our worship during Lent is to find the courage to ask the difficult questions and to discover in the Scriptures the richness of Jesus’ gift to us through his suffering, death on the cross and glorious resurrection. Cecil Baughman will accompany the vespers and there will be special music from members of our congregation. Each week the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated with an opportunity for individuals present to ask for anointing with oil to receive the healing prayers of the church. A brief time of fellowship will follow the 45 minute services. The quiet serenity of the sanctuary chancel provides a unique space for our Lenten Vespers. Join with others from Epworth and plan now to invite your family, friends and neighbors to join you for these moving and inspiring services as a part of our common Lenten Spiritual Disciplines. A free-will offering will be received to benefit Epworth’s mission ministries. |
