Wednesday, February 14 @ 12noon & 7pm
Ash Wednesday is a powerful day in our faith as we are able to openly recognize our sinfulness, our frailty, and stare death in the face as we confess our need of a savior. So we invite you to join us for one of our two services at 12 noon and 7pm, as we begin the Lenten season. Learn more.
Plan to make your reservations soon for the All-Church Lenten Study beginning Wednesdays, February 21 - March 21. Over these five weeks, we will study Pastor Adam Hamilton’s book and video “Final Words from the Cross”. This study is in conjunction with our Lenten Sermon Series.
Each evening begins with dinner at 6pm with classes ending at 8pm. Cost is $7/adult, $5/child or $20/family. (See dinner schedule here.) After dinner, the study will begin. Sign up for this study and/or the meal by contacting Nancy using the form below. Deadline is the Monday before the study/dinner takes place. (We will have free childcare available upon request; please email firstname.lastname@example.org at least 1 week prior to class so we can arrange for care)
Thursday, March 29 @ 7pm
The Chancel Choir and instrumentalists present: The Living Last Words written by Ruth Elaine Schram. In this dramatic and powerful work, Ruth Elaine Schram imagines the responses of the contemptuous soldier; the crucified thief's sympathetic sibling; the scornful priest; the anguished shepherd; the grieving mother of Christ; and the heartbroken disciple, searching for answers. Her remarkable score conveys Christ's words deftly and passionately. Join us for this powerful service during Holy Week as we celebrate the Last Supper and the Last Words of our Savior Jesus the Christ on the cross.
Friday, March 30 from 12noon - 6pm
This self-directed worship experience takes place in our sanctuary, come when you can and stay as long as you like. Each of the fourteen stations focuses on moments leading to Jesus’ death on the cross. The stations are portrayed in artwork, in all mediums, created by Epworth members and friends from the community, and inspired by scripture. A guidebook with the scripture for each station and a reflection from the artist will be available for individual use. Walk, reflect, and pray. The Stations of the Cross are open to the public. Invite a friend.
