ADVENT BAGS

We will be collecting bags of goods for Leading Families Home, St. Paul’s Community Center, Sunshine and YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter. Learn more about each agency here. Beginning Sunday, November 19, bags will be available in the lobby with a list of requested items attached. You don't have to purchase everything on the list. Just fill with what is convenient to purchase and what fits! Please return bags to the lobby on or before Sunday, December 17. We hope you consider picking up an extra bag this year – maybe support an agency you didn’t know that much about until today!

HAMS FOR CHRISTMAS

St. Paul’s Community Center is need of hams for their special Christmas Dinner they serve for the homeless and impoverished in our community. Our goal is to provide 40 football-sized hams. Hams can be placed in the refrigerator in the kitchen (please mark “St. Paul’s Ham”) from Sunday, December 3 through Sunday, December 17.

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS

As a Salvation Army “Bell Ringer” you are helping to transform lives. Epworth will be manning the kettle at the Kroger's at Holland-Sylvania & Bancroft in one-hour shifts from 9am – 7pm on Thursday, December 14, Friday, December 15 and Saturday, , December 16. This is a wonderful service project for anyone – individuals, families, Wesley and youth groups, Sunday School Classes, etc. Sign-up sheets will in the lobby starting November 5.

HEIFER PROJECT

Heifer international is a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to ending world hunger and saving the earth by providing livestock, trees, training and other resources to help poor families in the USA and around the globe. Your donation pays for livestock and technical training in animal management and care. Your gift is used to purchase heifers, llamas, goats, tree seedlings, honey bees, pigs and chickens – to name a few.

Make a donation (heifer, goat, chickens, etc.)  in someone else’s name and they will receive an acknowledgment of the donation. This is a great gift idea for those hard-to-buy for people on your list. The Heifer giving model provides a wonderful lesson for your children. Stop by the information table in the cloister the end of November. Look for us in the cloister on Sundays, November 26, December 3 & December 10.

HAT & MITTEN TREE COLLECTION

Your donations of hats, scarves, mittens and gloves of all sizes and colors will help the children from Toledo’s inner city stay warm and comfortable this winter. Donations will also go to YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter, Hawkins Elementary School and St. Paul’s Community Center. We have a significant need this year for men’s items, including warm socks. Please place items in the bin in the lobby and/or on the Hat & Mitten Tree by the Central Ave. entrance beginning Sunday, December 3. Please have your donations on the tree on or before Sunday, December 17.

CHRISTMAS CARDS

New this year! On Sundays, November 12 & 19, please bring in your surplus, unused Christmas cards. Just about everyone has a box or two hanging around the house. Then on Sunday, December 10, we will have a "signing" event in the lobby and deliver the cards to persons who may not normally hear from anyone at Christmas. A bin will be in the lobby to collect them.
