New Orleans
Another of Epworth’s missions follows in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Epworth has sent a number of work teams to New Orleans, LA to help with the much needed relief and recovery for those affected by the storm and flooding of August 2005. In conjunction with UMCOR and Kenner United Methodist Church, work consists of dismantling and repairing homes and assisting Kenner UMC in reviving its Vacation Bible School. Just as importantly, work teams take timeout to let those affected by the storm “tell their stories”. This ongoing project continues to provide financial, physical and psychological support for those who struggle daily with rebuilding their lives, their homes and their communities.
