One of Epworth’s mission outreach programs is Grace Children’s Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Grace serves children and families in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, providing a vital safety net for residents of the desperately poor slum neighborhoods. Services range from vaccinations and treatment for tuberculosis to pre- and post-natal visits for mothers and babies, and treatment for malnutrition. Heart-breaking statistics……1 of 5 on this island will die before their fifth birthday of TB and malnutrition, and 1 of 9 are HIV positive. In May of 2007, a new eye clinic was opened, housed in its own newly constructed building, offering two state-of-the-art surgical suites for cataract surgeries."
