Africa Missions

Africa

Epworth has been involved with missionary outreach in Africa since 1991.  In August of 2001, efforts intensified as members of our congregation were introduced to Reverend John and Kendra Enright, founders of the Kafakumba Pastor School in Zambia.

Since then, Epworth has played an integral role at the pastor school. Each spring, a team of educators travel to Zambia to instruct pastors, their spouses, and their children on a variety of topics including:

Religious Studies
HIV/AIDS Education
Health & Fitness
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Counseling
Women’s Issues
Family Issues
Economic Issues
Academic Instruction for children

Epworth’s outreach in Africa has been successful and rewarding. Since 1999, the church has financially supported Wings of the Morning medical flight ministry, operated by pilot and missionary Gaston Ntambo and his wife, Jeanne. Epworth played an integral role in Gaston’s education, as the church supported his studies as he earned a pilot’s license from a local community college while living in Toledo for several years.

Outreach to other African missionaries continues in the town of Ndola in Zambia. Epworth is proud to assist in supporting Pastor Ken Vance and his wife Debbie, in the ministry and outreach of their church in Ndola.

In the spring of 2007, the congregation donated 100 bicycles for the pastors in Congo. In order to assure our continued outreach in all of the mentioned areas, Epworth has participated in a banana farm partnership in Kafakumba since 2005. The banana farm employs local residents in the village.  Currently, other areas of need and outreach are being investigated for future projects.
