| Habitat 2013 Partner Build |
|
Partner Family Profile: April Woodward Thank you, Epworth, for your willingness to partner with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity as a sponsor for an upcoming 2013 Friendship Build for the Woodward family located at 635 Carver Blvd. April Woodward, who joined Habitat as a future homeowner in August 2012, is a single mother to Claudia, 17, and Rocky, 14. She is employed at the Pro Quo Books warehouse as a supervisor and has worked there for 6 years. April currently resides in a 2-bedroom home, utilizing the living room as a third bedroom for herself. The neighborhood in which she and her family currently live is extremely dangerous. April reports that three homicides have occurred nearby, all within a few blocks of her residence. On one occasion, April’s son was approached by a group of young men in a truck who threatened to assault him if he did not give them his shoes. These and other safety issues make April terrified of having company over, and she discourages her nieces and nephews from visiting as a result of these fears. Her hope is to move into a home large enough to accommodate her family. April has worked very hard on her sweat equity hours in the different areas of our affiliate. She has volunteered in the Restore, participated in outreach events, and regularly helps out in the construction of other families’ homes. In addition to volunteering with the affiliate for a minimum of 15 hours each month, April has been consistently attending our Homeowner Education classes. We are excited and appreciative to be partnering with you to provide April and her family a safe, decent and affordable home.
