Upcoming Missions trips
West Ohio Conference Trip to Democratic Republic of Congo August 9-19
Pastor Bob Thomas; Columbus Area North District Superintendent Marcus Atha and his son Lucas; David Hoffman, Associate Pastor at Worthington UMC; and Conference Staff member George Howard will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo August 9-19.
The group will experience worship and see the scope of ministry where the church is at the center of health, education and spiritual development for the village of Kamina. The visitation will be documented in order to strengthen the partnership between the two conferences. An emphasis will be placed within the Capital Area North District churches and the initiatives around Global Health, Working with the Poor, Leadership Development, and Church Growth and Development. Pastor Thomas will renew ties with Gaston Ntambo who lived in Toledo while Epworth sponsored his training to be a pilot and airplane mechanic and with Gaston's father, Bishop Ntambo who visited Epworth following General Conference in 2008 and invited Pastor Bob to come to the Congo to see the ministries and churches working for Christ in Africa. While in Congo the team from West Ohio will visit an orphanage, nursing school, clinic, maternity hospital, farm, churches and parsonages. Two days will be devoted to interacting with the pastors and leaders of the North Katanga Conference to explore ways West Ohio churches can partner with African churches for more effective ministries.

Adult Work Team to assist
Good Works, Inc. in Athens, Ohio
October 4-9, 2010
For many years, Epworth has been among 80 churches supporting the ministry of Good Works, Inc. For over 30 years their ministry has been to create a loving community of hope where those struggling with issues of homelessness, poverty and recovery can experience God’s love, identify their faith, and develop hope.
As part of the team, you will connect with nice folks as you work on various projects which may involve home maintenance, or more advanced skilled work depending on the skills of our team. A variety of skilled and unskilled talents will be needed. Our smiles, our interactions, our helping hands are the primary gift as we reflect how God’s love can be experienced and faith strengthened. At the end of our week, our team will provide and serve a public meal to about 150 persons from this community.
A planning meeting will be August 28th at 9:00 AM, Epworth volunteer room. If you’re going, be mindful of your sign-up date for the new pictorial church directory. For details, please contact Bob and Marilyn and Town at 419-382-2325
