Winona Lake June 2007

Winona  Lake  Trip
June 15 - 17, 2007
by  Erin Baughmann

was exhausted and more than a few got a bit too much sun. At about 6:30 we left to go back to the farm. When we got back everyone wanted to relax. But Everyone had a great time! There were a lot fun times. Eight kids and two adults left Toledo around 6pm. It was a 1 ˝ hour drive to the Stiles’ farm. All of the girls went in a car with Mrs. Baughman and all the boys went with Mr. Ramsey. When we got there we set up camp. Luke’s tent was not complete so he was told to take it down, which he didn’t do (more on this to come). There were 4 little tents and 2 big tents. Later that night we had a camp fire and we had marshmallows only. Somebody forgot the chocolate! We all woke up early the next morning, about 7:00-7:30. We had a campfire, went fishing and went on a mule ride. Now this is not a four legged mule but rather like a small jeep. Grandpa Stiles has all sorts of trails through his woods that we rode on. Four of us would go on a mule ride and four of us would fish. Rachel caught her first fish ever! Mandy caught both the smallest and the largest fish. At about 11:30 we left for Winona Lake . When we got there every one went right for the water. The lake had all sorts of giant inflatables and rafts to climb on. When it was break time we all had lunch. When we got back in the water slide opened. Mrs. Ramsey arrived with Heather and her friend Anjmeeta around 3:00. Everyone then Diane shouted, “Tent alert! Tent alert! We’re missing a tent!” Everyone said, “No, it’s OK. The tent is right here.” They were all looking at the tent that just moved a few feet. Finally everyone realized that the tent that Luke was so supposed to take down was in the pond!!! When we got it out it was covered in algae. Later Luke and Diane when to the house and washed it off. That night we had a fish fry. With it we had potato fries and Grandma Stiles made brownies. We made another camp fire and then we took turns doing skits. We also made real s’mores because we had bought chocolate. Since we were all very tired we went to sleep pretty fast that night. The next morning we woke up about the same time as we did the other day. First we made a campfire. After eating we fished and hung out some more. We took down our tents and later we went on a hike. It was a short hike because the mosquitoes were biting in the woods. We left about 10:30 which was earlier then we thought we would. We stopped at a rest area and ate lunch. We met at Diane’s house and then all when back to our houses remembering how much fun we had! Venture Crew is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t miss the pictures below!
