Vertical Reality

September 30, 2007

By Erin B.

Our first impression of Vertical Reality was that this place was really old and would not be as much fun as we thought. By the end of the day if was more fun then we thought it would be. We were joined by youth from a Venture Crew from Summerfield, MI and a Boy Scout troop from Our Lady of Perpetual Help. That comes to a grand total of 28 people.

We first came in and got on some gear and had some lessons about safety. Once we had some lessons on rappel how-to we did some rappelling inside and out. Every one had a lot of fun. Some of us even did some tricks such as doing 360s in the air. It was a little scary because we were seven stories high. After that we did that for about two and a half hours we had lunch. After lunch we split into two groups. One group went rock climbing and some people made it to the top. The other group went to learn how to climb over a waterfall in a cave. Then they switched around. Then we got to climb over a real waterfall underground! The final thing we did was go down the zip line. The zip line is 600’ long and drops about 100’ into the quarry pond below, where a boat comes to pick you up out of the pond.

What a ride!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee...this Is funnnnnnn!
This is a BAD idea!
I can stand upside down!
I’m going in...wish me luck!
And I’m coming out!
